The CBS round two league encounter proved less fruitful than their first unfortunately, as the school were narrowly beaten by 2 points by a strong Oranmore side. Oranmore opened the scoring with a point before Darren Gately looked to have put the Roscommon side in the driving seat with two well taken goals. The first half however proved a chaotic affair, with the green flag being raised on 13 occasions. Despite the CBS’s good start Oranmore scored the next three goals to take control again. DJ Hession settled things for the CBS with a well taken point before Oranmore goaled again. Karol Feerick raised the green flag for the CBS before Oranmore register 1-2 to lead 5-3 to 2-2. The CBS were given the next break however when Gately was dragged to the ground inside the small square. Gately duly converted to cut the gap before Oranmore goaled again and the impressive Gately netted to cancel out that effort from the Galway side. Oranmore pointed before Gately, who was causing huge difficulties every time he got on the ball netted again for the Roscommon men. Oranmore tacked on another 1-1 before another Gately point to leave it 7-5 to 6-2 at halftime in favour of the Galway side.

The second half proved to be less chaotic with substantially reduced scoring on both sides. Oranmore opened it with a point from play before another pointed free from Darren Gately. Shane Walsh pointed for the Roscommon side before Oranmore cancelled this score to leave the gap at 0-6. Walsh pointed before the CBS were almost dealt a hammer blow when Oranmore were awarded a penalty after a trip by goalkeeper Niall Shanagher. Shanagher was yellow carded for the offence but redeemed himself well as he dived to the bottom left corner, pulling off a fine save. Despite this the CBS received another blow as Darren Gately received a black card. He was replaced by Kevin Connaughton who did magnificently with his first possession powering towards goal and roofing the ball to the back of the net. The gap now stood at just two points. Oranmore pointed again before an Aaron Lyons driven point reduced it two again. Unfortunately there wasn’t sufficient time for the Roscommon men to engineer another score, as the final whistle was blown shortly after.
