Students in the CBS recently received a very informative presentation on internet safety last week. The presentation, which was sponsored by Bank of Ireland, was designed to promote an awareness of the potential dangers and to provide a guide on how to act responsibly on social media sites. It also outlined what is meant by cyber bullying – the use of technology to support deliberate, repeated, and hostile behaviour by an individual or group with the intent of harming others. Students were also advised to be mindful of their digital footprint, and the impact on social media sites on their future prospects or reputation. Overall, it was very informative, and hopefully encouraged students to be vigilant about their online activity.
