Teaching staff in the Edmund Rice Centre attended a prestigious awards ceremony in the Castleknock hotel in Dublin last Wednesday night for the Cara National Inclusion Awards. The Centre was one of three schools across the country nominated for increasing physical activity amongst students with special needs on an on-going, fun and inclusive way. Although the school did not win the overall prize, they were delighted to be recognised for their dedication to teaching physical activity as a key life skill. The Centre facilitates student visits to the pool, local gyms and the school’s outdoor gym on a regular basis. Students also participate in CBS Sports Days and PE lessons in the CBS. The nomination reflects also on the inclusive atmosphere within the CBS, which sees students of all abilities work together in improving sports and physical skills.
