The juvenile footballers of Roscommon CBS have had a very productive Connacht league campaign so far in 2018. Early in October a trip to Carrick on Shannon caused little difficulty with the CBS winning out 5-16 to 1-3 over the Leitrim side. A far tougher test awaited when the CBs took on Holy Rosary College Mountbellew in round 2. This game was played in Lisnamult on Thursday October 18th. The CBS were largely in control in the first period, leading by seven points at the halftime break. A strong breeze however was a big factor and the Roscommon town side were well pinned back in the second period. The margin sat at five points as the game ticked into injury time. HRC were awarded a penalty in the final couple of minutes, which they duly converted. HRC had chances towards the end to snatch victory but the CBS defence remained resolute, eventually winning 6-14 to 7-9. Their final group game was against Garbally College in Ballinasloe on November 13th. This game was another tight affair. Level at half time, the Roscommon town only securing victory in the final few minutes of the second half. The final score here was Roscommon CBS 4-15 Garbally 5-6. This meant that the CBS topped Group 2 and they now await the winners of St Marys College Galway and HRC Mountbellew in the Connacht semi-final.
