Sixth Years recently travelled to Dublin to see UCD Dramsoc’s production of the Shakespearean tragedy Macbeth, the Single text they have studied for this year’s Leaving Certificate English programme. The UCD production emphasised the interpersonal relationships between the characters, and the deterioration of these as the play progresses. Another major theme that really stood out on the day was that of appearance versus reality. Students found it a truly memorable production and found that the spectacle of the on-stage added to their understanding of the play. Many thanks to Mr Coll, Ms Reale and Ms Hughes for accompanying students.
