Past Pupil to receive Doctor of Literature

The CBS was delighted to receive a visit from past pupil and renowned author, Michael Conry. Michael Conry is originally from Tulsk and attended Roscommon CBS. After graduating in agricultural science from UCD in 1958, he was appointed a research officer in An Foras Talúntais.

During the course of his career in soil science he was awarded an MSc by Ghent University, Belgium, and a PhD by Trinity College, Dublin.. He has published many books on the soils of various counties in Ireland.

Michael who is now living in Carlow was on the 1953 team and was delighted to hear about CBS Roscommon’s recent All Ireland win. He was spent time last week reminiscing about deceased teacher, Mr Christy Hannon, who he remembered fondly.

This week, Michael will be receiving a Doctor of Literature degree from UCD. The DLitt degree is at the highest level awarded by the University, signifying a scholar of international distinction. We wish to congratulate him on this extraordinary achievement and thank him for taking the time to visit us.
