School Tour to Manchester

CBS Transition Years participated in a fantastic school tour last week to Manchester, taking in some of the top tourist and tourist sites in the city.

They left the school last Friday accompanied by teachers Ms Staunton, Mr Casey, Ms Buckley and Mr Scollan. They left the school at one thirty in the morning and travelled by ferry from Dublin to Holyhead. They then made the two-and-a-half-hour trip to Manchester, arriving early in the afternoon. They made their way to Old Trafford where they saw the Man United versus Cardiff game. This was a disappointment for the many Red Devil fans amongst the group as they lost two nil to Cardiff. Then they went to the Trafford Centre for some shopping and food before making their way to their hotel.

The second day of the tour, they left the hotel at eight thirty and spent the entire day at Alton Towers. They loved the rides and rollercoaster there, particularly The Smiler and The Oblivion – a vertical drop ride which drew many screams from the CBS crew!

Tuesday morning, they set off from the hotel early in the morning again and made their way to the Etihad stadium where they completed the Manchester City stadium tour. They got to see inside the dressing rooms, walk around the pitch and sit in the manager’s seats in the dugouts. Finally, it was time to leave and they made their way back to Holyhead for the journey home, arriving home at approximately eight on Tuesday evening.

Overall, the students loved the trip and were very thankful to all teachers, particularly Ms Staunton the TY co-ordinator for organising the tour.
