CBS Receive Official Guinness World Record

The CBS Edmund Rice Centre has just received the official certificate from the Guinness Book of World Records, confirming that it is the title holder of the record for the longest awareness ribbon in the world. In April, the Edmund Rice Centre took a hugely innovative approach to Autism Awareness month by organising a ribbon which measured over 1,555 metres to be displayed on the school grounds. Officials from Guinness World Records, engineers and members of An Garda Siochanai were all present to ensure that the record attempt was accurate and in order. As a result, the school now holds a Guinness World Record. According to Orla O’Connor of the Edmund Rice Centre, the certificate is testament to the ongoing work in campaigning for autism awareness that is taking place within the centre. ‘We consistently strive to ensure that there is better awareness and understanding about autism – within the school and the community. Roscommon has been brilliant in that respect – local businesses and organisations have been very supportive all the way! This record would not have been possible without their help!’
