TY students had a brilliant zoom call during the week with celebrity stand-up comedian, Rory O’Connor of Rory’s Stories fame. Rory spoke to the students about his journey from his time in secondary school to his present role as comedian and writer. He told them about the difficulties he faced with the academic side of school and his uncertainty about what to do when he finished. He described the meandering path he took after school, his difficulty with literacy and his battle with a gambling addiction. He told them about the work he put in to turn his life around, getting up at 4 and 5 am in the morning to write his book ‘My Unexpected Journey to Self-Belief’, and urged them always to believe in their dreams, and never doubt their power to succeed.
