CBS Roscommon Parent Bulletin April 2021

CBS Roscommon Parent Bulletin April 2021

Parent and Student Bulletin April 9th 2021

This week we are putting the final preparations for our reopening on MONDAY APRIL 12TH.   All students will return to their normal timetable, in full uniform, while adhering to the return to school protocols that were in place before Christmas. It is imperative that we all play our part in keeping one another safe.

I would like to remind all parents and students of the following before their return to school:

Monday April 12th

  • Students will follow their timetable from Monday April 12th including their break times.

The Department states that this form is to be used when students are returning to school after any absence.

The form can be returned to info@cbsroscommon.ie and must by Monday morning.   This is for everyone’s safety.

  • Sanitisers

A hand sanitiser dispenser is inside or outside every classroom. Students must sanitise their hands prior to entering the classroom. Students must also observe hand hygiene guidelines in practical classes particularly if sharing of equipment is necessary. All students must sanitise their hands before and after use of specialised equipment. Hand sanitiser is available throughout the school but it is advised all students bring their own hand sanitiser and wipes with them to school.

The symptoms for COVID19 are:

○        fever (high temperature)

○        coughing

○        shortness of breath

○        loss or change to your sense of smell or taste

It can take up to 14 days for symptoms to show. They can be similar to symptoms of cold and flu.

If you are feeling unwell and have any of the above symptoms it is advised you do not attend school. If in school and you are experiencing any of the above symptoms you must inform a member of staff immediately.

Students are asked to wear face masks at all times including PE and not to congregate outside shops etc.  Students can bring their own lunch to avoid large gatherings.  Also after school hours we have been advised that students go home immediately after school and no loitering up town.

Summer Exams – will commence for 1st & 2nd years and 5th year students middle of May with our 3rd years beginning the week of May 5th.  All 3rd years have been versed on the criteria and the composition of the marking system for the JC in school exams. The content and scope of the exams will be explained to all students by their teachers on their return to school next week.

Tuesday May 4th – there will be no school for students as per the agreed academic calendar 2020 – 2021.

Dates for Leaving Certificate Students:

April 23rd – History; Geography, Ag Science – coursework completion date and submission

Saturday May 8th  – LCVP LC exam

May 20th – Art

May 28th – Construction Studies Project

In conclusion, we are still living in vulnerable times and we need to look out for one another.  I cannot stress enough how important it is that all students act responsibly and maturely.   We all want our school to remain open but we also want it to be a safe place.

Looking forward to seeing all students back in school next week.

Le gach dea-ghuí,

Ms.Gallagher
