On Friday the 22nd of October, great guest speaker Martin McHugh came in to talk to Transition Years about his experience of Testicular Cancer and his journey with the disease.

Martin McHugh who is a Leitrim native and a former county footballer gave a very honest account of his own experience with cancer and the challenges he had to overcome. One of the hardest challenges for him was talking to other people to help him to get through it. He also said that returning back to sport was the next step to his recovery as he began to get back to normality and to the things he loved.     

Martin’s honesty and humour attracted all the Transition Years attention and they were all very engaged in the talk. (article by Noah Kelly)
