Over the past number of months, the newly nominated Green Schools committee within Roscommon CBS are making excellent strides with the Green Schools initiative. Currently, the team have their sights set on achieving the Energy flag. The main task in order to earn the Energy flag is to indentify how much energy is used within the school, draw up strategies to reduce energy waste and implement their plans. Such skills are now required for jobs in sustainability in large firms, who are starting to realise that huge sums of money are wasted every year on energy and electricity.  Furthermore, the committee have to monitor litter and recycling within the school to adhere to previous flags. Litter picks, poster campaigns and raising awareness are just a few of the tasks that are carried out by this group of hard-working students.
