On Thursday 25th May we held our graduation mass for the Leaving Certificate class of 2023. There was superb attendance from our Leaving Certs, their families, teachers and management of the school. The mass was wonderfully organised by the religion department. The hall looked wonderful with artwork from students in the Edmund Rice Centre, balloons, and the alter decorated with flowers.
Thank you to Fr. Joe Fitzgerald and Deacon Willie Gacquin for celebrating the mass which opened with students presenting gifts from their time in the school. A number of students also completed readings and prayers of the faithful during the ceremony. The mass was beautifully complimented by fabulous music performed by our music department.
Following the mass Mr. Scollan, Mr. Ferguson, Mrs. Murphy and Mr. Kelly presented students with their certificates, marking their graduation from the CBS. Congratulations to Tomás Tiernan, James Connolly, Conor Golden and Daniel Hughes on receiving Academic Excellence awards and to Daragh Walsh, Scott Lawrence, Tommie Kellehan and Ethan O’ Reilly who received Contribution to School Life awards. Congratulations also to Cyrille Bikoi on receiving the Student of the Year award and to Senan Lambe who received the Victor Ludorum Sports Student of the Year award.
The evening ended with refreshments being provided for everyone in the hall, providing a chance to chat and reminisce about the last 6 years spent in the CBS. It was an emotional evening as the students realised that their time in the CBS has almost drawn to a close ahead of their exams, yet the excitement of new chapters beginning was palpable.
To the Leaving Certificate Class of 2023, we want to wish you the very best in your exams and in life. We are very proud of the strong, mature, kind and mannerly young men you have become and it has been an honour to have you represent the CBS. As Mrs. Murphy might say, this is not goodbye, it is until we see you again!
